Ongoing research of the Channel Island Fox evolution and phylogenetics.

Undergraduate Researcher, Vertebrate Paleontology

Advisor: Christian Sidor

  • 3D reconstruction of fossil structures of a Triassic Traversodont specimen from neutron CT scans in order to gather anatomical measurements for statistical analysis.

  • Preparation of figures and anatomical observations relevant to publishable manuscript.

  • Attendance of weekly lab meetings to discuss recent publications and provide updates on research progress.

  • Winter 2021: Presented findings to Sidor Lab outlining: 

    • Proposed location of specimen on cynodont phylogenetic tree, comparative morphology of specimen to terrestrial and arboreal counterparts, backgrounds and methods, and quantitative and qualitative findings of forelimb anatomy. 

In progress: Collaboration with Christian Sidor on descriptive manuscript of currently unnamed cynodont specimen.

  • Biological imaging of various marine specimens using Scanning Electron Microscopy, Micro CT, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, and Histology.

Outcome: Imaging portfolio examining structure and biomechanics of Salish marine vertebrates.

Seasonal field work in the Chinle Formation extracting Triassic archosaur fossils at varying sizes and preservation levels.

Producer of commercial videos for a range of clients. Special projects included producing research and educational videos for various scientific institutions including Seattle Children’s, University of Washington and Washington State University.

Producer of biotechnology videos including cellular assay protocol procedures, product marketing videos, and researcher interviews. Responsibilities included: technical script writing and creation of scientific animations to convey complex procedures; filming in labs and following of lab safety and protocols.
